BRC joins Unimas “Go Green” Campaign

GO GREEN!

Unimas is now starting a campaign to stop using styrofome containers in all eateries in the campus.

Students are advised to bring your own containers to hold your food.

BRC is also selling reusuable containers at 50 sen each in case you forget to bring one.

One minor point to note is that rice will be charged according to how much you take and not per container.

So, remember to bring your own fancy food containers to help do your part to save the Earth.

Every little bit counts and you must be proud that Unimas stands as a leader in going green!

Viva la Unimas!

Happy Pongal Day – Jan 14

Happy Pongal Day to all our Tamil friends at BRC.

Pongal is a four-day festival celebrated with lot of gusto in Tamil Nadu. It is observed in the Tamil month, Thai Masam. PongalĀ 2011Ā starts on January 14 with Bhogi Pongal. It is the biggest harvestĀ festival celebrated as thanks giving occasion to the nature. Bhogi Pongal, Surya Pongal, Mattu Pongal, Kannum Pongal are the fourĀ festivalsĀ celebrated on first, second, third and fourth day respectively.

Just a short explanation of this festival.

We now await the celebration here at Unimas organized by the students. Surely they will strive to top last year’s Pongal Nite.

Oh my! The dancing was incredible last year. Were they really students????

Go do an even better one this year.

Tuesday is SAY NO POPLAS Day

Now you may be wondering what this occasion relates to us at BRC. This is not a public holiday nor a religious celebration. It is a campaign led by Unimas and we at BRC are supporting it.

SAY NO POPLAS is a green campaign to encourage students not to use polystyrene containers and plastic bags but rather bring your own containers instead.

Each Tuesday, students are strongly encourage to use your own containers to store the food and drinks. Otherwise, there will be an additional charge of 20 sen for each piece of plastic or polystyrene container you use.

Come support Unimas and BRC for this campaign to reduce the use of non-recyclable materials, reduce the use of polystyrene and plastic bags.

Come with your food containers and tumblers so that this little contribution will make a big one together and make this world a bit greener.

BRC will do our part to enforce. We hope you will do your part to contribute.

SAY NO POPLAS … yeah!!!

“Starbucks” at BRC

2011 promises to be a good year at BRC with more new introductions. This year, BRC has become more like “Starbucks” with a new free WIFI service only for BRC patrons. Ā This new service deploys a brand new technology that is relatively new to Malaysia but is getting more popular nowadays. Ā It is a 3G Wifi Router!

Now it won’t be complete without some “Starbucks” coffee and so a brand new Italian expresso machine has made its way into BRC. Students now can now place special orders for the cafe latte and BRCĀ chai latte, the BRC way of course!

Come enjoy a movie or a football match with the new BRC cafe latte soon!
